Basic training for future brokers, mandatory since September 1, 2013: The OACIQ welcomes this measure that will protect the public even better

Brossard (Québec), September 11, 2013 – It is also back-to-school in the real estate field. Since September 1, 2013, all prospective real estate and mortgage brokers must successfully complete a basic training recognized by the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ) before being admitted to take the certification exam.

The Organization welcomes the coming into force of this measure that allows it to even better fulfil its mission of protecting the public by supervising new brokers.

The broker plays a crucial role in the success of a real estate transaction and in the protection of the buyer’s and seller’s interests. In this regard, the coming into force of the mandatory basic training is great news for us,” said Mr. Robert Nadeau, President and Chief Executive Officer of the OACIQ. Mr. Nadeau also welcomes the collaboration of educational institutions and all partners involved.

Remember that this measure is in response to a recommendation made by the OACIQ, endorsed last November by the Minister of Finance and Economy of Québec. With this basic training, along with the strict certification process of the Organization, future brokers will be even better prepared to act professionally and in accordance with public expectations.
