OACIQ Annual General meeting

Innovating to better protect the public

Brossard (Québec), May15, 2014 – During an eventful day organized by the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ), where conferences and an annual general meeting were held, real estate and mortgage brokers acquired new ideas and concrete tools to enhance their skills and better protect the public.

“The Annual General Meeting Day is an opportunity for brokers to equip themselves with the necessary means to adapt their practice to the changing market” said Mr. Robert Nadeau, President and Chief Executive Officer of the OACIQ. The OACIQ AGM 2014, held on May 14 at Mortagne Hotel in Boucherville, was no exception; it presented many new features.

Famous speakers

Tom Ferry, Real Estate Coach from California and internationally renowned speaker, inaugurated the day by providing inspiring tips to help licence holders renew their approach in a challenging professional context. During a very popular practical workshop, M. Martin Lessard, a Web strategy and social media expert, has then shown to brokers how to optimize their digital communications.

In the afternoon, brokers had to make a choice between a conference of Jean-François Ouellet, Associate Professor of Marketing at HEC Montréal and Host of the business show Génération INC., who motivated participants through stories of successful business approaches, and a frank and stimulating consumer panel with members of the public who shared their views with brokers on their experience of buying or selling a property.

A general meeting under the sign of change

In the afternoon, at the general meeting, brokers were able to express their views freely, particularly regarding the continuing education and ways to ensure the success of the profession in a rapidly changing environment. Their relevant questions led to constructive discussions with the OACIQ executives.

“To adapt, do not hesitate to surpass and reinvent yourself. This day full of innovation reflects that; it is a true reflection of the dynamism and pragmatism of the profession”, stated Mr. Robert Nadeau.
