The Court of Quebec dismissed Patrice Bissou's appeal and imposed on him a 365-day suspension and fines totalling $8,000

Brossard, March 30, 2020 – Appeal of the sanction

The Court of Quebec dismissed Patrice Bissou’s appeal and upheld the sanction imposed by the Discipline Committee, i.e. a suspension of 365 days and fines totalling $8,000. Patrice Bissou had been found guilty of implementing a scheme allowing him, as part of the sale of an immovable, to withdraw a portion of the remuneration, the total of which represented the difference between the sellers’ floor price and the buyers’ ceiling price. To do this, he used privileged information obtained from the parties involved while simultaneously representing them as a listing broker and as a broker mandated by the buyers. He was also found guilty of backdating two amendment forms.
