Brossard (Québec), November 27, 2013 – Brokers who are always better equipped to guide buyers and sellers in one of the most important transactions in their lives. Determined to pursue this goal, the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ) will step up its continuing education efforts with real estate and mortgage brokers in the province.

“The unique expertise that the broker offers to his clients is a real added value for the public in the whole complex process of a real estate transaction”, explains Mr. Robert Nadeau, President and CEO of the OACIQ.

The Organization will develop, after a consultation that will take place in the coming months, a mandatory continuing education program to even better assist brokers in their practice so that they meet the market’s growing requirements.

This program will be in line with the five mandatory continuing education sessions that have been given to brokers since 2010, as well as with a range of optional activities that are also offered.

All these initiatives, combined with the imposition of the mandatory basic training for future brokers since September 1, 2013, show the importance that the Organization gives to brokers’ skills in the success of a transaction.

“The profession evolves. By taking these actions, we are seeking to strengthen public confidence in brokers, by ensuring that they have, at any time, the tools to successfully guide consumers in the purchase or sale of a property”, concludes Mr. Nadeau.

About the OACIQ
The OACIQ’s main mission is to ensure public protection in real estate and mortgage brokerage matters, among other things, by supervising and overseeing the professional activities of real estate brokers in accordance with the Real Estate Brokerage Act. The OACIQ also helps promote brokers’ professionalism and competence with the public. Since 2002, the OACIQ Continuing Education Department has been assisting brokers in their career path. In this way, it participates in the outreach of the profession, which reflects on all brokers, and helps protect consumers in their real estate or mortgage transactions.
