The Court of Quebec dismisses Marie-Josée Dumas' appeal and imposes a six-year licence suspension

Brossard, October 7, 2019 – Appeal of the sanction

The Court of Quebec imposed a six-year suspension period on Marie-Josée Dumas’ licence. The latter was found guilty of having been the instigator or the accomplice of a fraudulent scheme aimed at cheating a financial institution, by stealing the identity of a person and using false documents, in order to make a substantial profit on the sale of her son's house.

“We are pleased with the decision of the Court of Quebec, which sided with the arguments of the OACIQ and its public protection mission by revisiting the Discipline Committee’s sanction from 18 months to 6 years," said Me Caroline Champagne, Vice-President, Enforcement of Practices at the OACIQ.
