ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

OACIQ launches a chatbot to answer consumer questions at all times

Brossard, December 8, 2023 – Buyers, sellers and real estate brokers will now be able to get answers to their questions at any time using the chatbot of the Organisme d'autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ), created with artificial intelligence.

"Integrating artificial intelligence through the launching of an Info OACIQ virtual agent helps provide instant assistance to improve user's experience and real estate literacy and to protect the public" says Nadine Lindsay, President and CEO of the OACIQ.

A new state-of-the-art language model

In just a few seconds, Élise – the first name of the chatbot of the information center Info OACIQ – can answer a host of questions from the public, real estate brokers and agency officers. To ensure thoroughness, the answers are based on the Real Estate Brokerage Act and its regulations, as well as the OACIQ articles published on the oaciq.com website. To make the experience easier, a tutorial is available so that users can take full advantage of it and get the most accurate answers possible about real estate brokerage.

The OACIQ thus becomes the first real estate regulator in Canada to take advantage of artificial intelligence to better protect the public and play its societal real estate education role. This innovation will allow our employees to devote more time to aswering complex questions from consumers and real estate brokers that require human contact.

People first

“The Info OACIQ agents were enthusiastic about the project from the beginning and their contribution as artificial intelligence ambassadors within the organization has further strengthened their commitment and sense of pride of being part of this great organization,” said Sandra Barrette, Director of the information center Info OACIQ. “Thanks to the chatbot Élise, our valued ambassadors will be able to devote even more time to assisting consumers with more specific questions about real estate brokerage.”

The OACIQ has provided training to all its staff and encouraged them to get involved and experiment the OACIQ virtual agent.

By incorporating artificial intelligence, the OACIQ is positioning itself as a modern and innovative organization, ready to evolve with current technological trends, while maintaining the highest ethical standards when using of these new technologies. Last October, artificial intelligence and technological advances were the focus of discussions at its annual symposium, RDV OACIQ 2023, held under the theme Tomorrow's real estate brokerage.

“Human beings remain at the heart of this evolution. The arrival of artificial intelligence marks a new era at the OACIQ. Together, we will write an exciting chapter in our history, where technology, people and our public protection mission intertwine to create a sustainable future,” concludes Nadine Lindsay.

Consumers can ask Élise about real estate brokerage via the OACIQ website.
